The Urban Food Resilience Initiatives Society (UFRIS) is pleased to be planting the seeds of many decades of good food-growing habits in Langford, the broader west shore region, across Greater Victoria, and beyond.

Coming up:

August 2025 Public Tours of Porcher Park Community Garden. Short tours (15 to 20 minutes) at PPCG, 828 Wren Place, Langford. On these dates (times to be announced based on volunteer availability — volunteer tour leaders please sign up by emailing to info@urbanfoodresilience.ca ).

  • WEEK ONE: Tuesday August 5, Thursday August 7, Saturday August 9
  • WEEK TWO: Tuesday August 12, Thursday August 14, Saturday August 16
  • WEEK THREE: Monday August 18, Wednesday August 20, Sunday August 24
  • WEEK FOUR: Wednesday August 27, Saturday August 30.

Sunday September 28. Porcher Park Community Garden Potluck. A meet-and-greet for active gardeners and interested residents of Langford. 11 am to 3 pm. More info to come. If you’d like to volunteer with preparation and setup, please write to info@urbanfoodresilience.ca. On that day, there will be forms for gardeners to sign up for Winter Season garden plots.

Spring 2026. Workshop on Growing Veggies in Containers. Will be held in Langford at Porcher Park Community Garden. More info to come.

  • Thursday May 15. PORCHER PARK COMMUNITY GARDEN OPENING DAY. For people who grow food! The 2025 summer growing season starts May 15 at Porcher Park, 822 Wren Place, Langford. Assigned plots were announced on May 12 and 13. We’re trying to include everyone, with a wait list as required after that. Sponsors, donors and volunteers welcome.
